Love for Nature

By the virtue of R.A. No. 9512, November was designated as environmental awareness month. “Everyone needs to be aware of the impact of their actions because the success and failure of environmental programs and the overall condition of our environment lie on small, personal acts that accumulate over time,” Paje said.

The activities will be spearheaded by the DENR’s Environmental Management Bureau (EMB).

Most of the activities on environmental awareness center on climate change and solid waste management (SWM)

The EMB, through the National Solid Waste Management Commission (NSWMC), together with the Solid Waste Association of the Philippines (SWAPP), will also hold the SWAPP Conference (SWAPPCon) 2012 to discuss the effectiveness of SWM by local government units (LGUs) in improving climate change adaptation and mitigation and disaster risk reduction. The event will be held on November 20-23 at the Bayview Hotel in Manila.

UN Month 2019

United Nations Day marks the anniversary of the UN Charter’s entry into force, and celebrates everything that the UN represents and has achieved since its establishment in 1945. With the ratification of this founding document by the majority of its signatories, including the five permanent members of the Security Council, the United Nations officially came into being.

With the theme, “Karapatang Pambata: Patuloy na Pahalagahan at Gampanan tungo sa Magandang Kinabukasan,” this year’s celebration of the NCM is made extra special as it coincides with the 30th Anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UN CRC).
It aims to “celebrate and recognize children as the most valuable assets of the nation” as well as to “emphasize the importance of their role within the Filipino family and Philippine society.” The law tasked the CWC, Department of Social and Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the National Youth Commission (NYC) to lead the annual celebration.

24 October has been celebrated as United Nations Day since 1948. In 1971, the United Nations General Assembly recommended that the day be observed by Member States as a public holiday.
Each year, the global network of UN Information Centres organizes a variety of events to mark UN Day. Activities range from ceremonies, seminars, panel discussions, symposiums to series of briefings for students, art competitions, rallies, film screenings and book/photo exhibitions, media campaigns- including interviews and newspaper supplements- and social media.

Ultimately, the celebration aims to “empower children as rights-holders and duty-bearers to deliver commitment to promote, protect, and fulfill their rights as children.”

Reflection

In the whole first quarter of my grade 10 life, things weren't like how it used to be; it wasn't like my grade 9 days before. I learned that sometimes we also need to study with ourselves without the teacher's guidance so that in the mere future, we can learn and discover things on our own.

At first, it was difficult, I keep thinking I can't cope up with the changes in our new level of education, but then I was challenged. I had the motivation to continue life as it goes and as I face every problem that I encounter.

Through the things that I realized this first quarter, I decided to pay more attention to our classes, take down notes, be more attentive and start reading lessons in advance as well as self-study in case the teacher won't discuss the lessons anymore and surprise us with an unknown quiz.
